Bio

Antonio Vargas is the reigning WBA world bantamweight champion, a Kissimmee, Florida-raised fighter with American, Mexican and Puerto Rican heritage. A 2016 Olympian and 2015 Pan American Games gold medallist in the flyweight division, Vargas has built his pro career with a technical jab-based orthodox style and genuine one-punch authority in the body.

He captured the WBA 118lb strap in 2025 and has defended it once since. Promoted by Boxlab Promotions and aligned with Top Rank in his earlier career, Vargas has fought most recently on DAZN-aired cards. He is regarded in the US trade press as one of the most underrated bantamweights on the planet — durable, patient, and technically sound — though his profile outside the US remains modest.

Next on the schedule: a career-defining date with Jesse "Bam" Rodriguez for the WBA strap at Desert Diamond Arena, Glendale, Arizona on June 13, 2026, live on DAZN.
