Right then, Jesus “Mono” Ramos Jr is one of the more naturally gifted young fighters in American boxing and one of the more frustrating to follow. A tall southpaw out of Arizona with a record of 24-1, he has held the interim WBC middleweight title since December 2025 and has been on the edge of a proper world title fight for a while now.

The tools are brilliant. He is long, he is heavy-handed, and his body punching is as good as anything in his weight bracket. When he is switched on and working behind his range he is very difficult to live with, and there are not many men at 160lb who want to be on the wrong end of that left hand.

The one defeat, to Erickson Lubin, is the fight that still defines the conversation about him. Ramos walked forward all night without establishing his range and got picked off by a disciplined operator who refused to trade. It was a lesson in patience, and the question every time he boxes now is whether he actually learned it.
