Chris Eubank Jr is a British middleweight and one of the most divisive figures the domestic scene has produced. Son of a legend, blessed with a genuinely extraordinary engine, and never quite the technician his talent suggested he might become.
His career has been defined by the big domestic nights — the Groves fight, the two with George Groves' stablemates, the Liam Smith rivalry, and the two enormous events against Conor Benn that gripped British boxing for the best part of four years.
What has never been in question is the courage. Eubank Jr has been in some brutal fights and has never once looked for a way out of one, and his conditioning at 36 remains freakish.
Whatever comes next, he has given British boxing more genuinely must-watch nights than almost anybody of his generation, and the sport is more interesting for having had him in it.
