Tyson Fury
The Gypsy King
Bio
Right then — this is the proper Tyson Fury profile page. The Gypsy King, three-time heavyweight world champion, lineal champion of the world for the back end of his reign, six foot nine, switch-hitting, ring genius and the most quotable man in British sport. Born 1988 in Wythenshawe, Manchester, family roots in the Irish Traveller community, now domiciled in Morecambe. 35 wins, 1 loss (the Usyk rematch in 2024), 1 draw (the first Deontay Wilder fight) and 24 stoppages on the slate.
Make no mistake — this is one of the all-time greats. Beating Wladimir Klitschko in Dusseldorf in 2015 to take three of the four belts, the comeback from two years out of the ring fighting depression, the trilogy with Wilder which featured a famous getting-up off the canvas in the 12th of the first fight, and the Usyk fights which decided the undisputed era. Whatever you think of him outside the ring, the man can fight.
His August 1 return in Dublin on the Pierce O'Leary card is the warm-up. The real fight is Anthony Joshua in November, almost certainly in Riyadh, and the British boxing public has been waiting four years for that one. Win the tune-up convincingly, take the rust off, then deliver the biggest British boxing event of the decade. The Gypsy King is back.
