Denzel Bentley is a Battersea middleweight who has taken the long road to a world title and has never once looked embarrassed by the company he keeps. Twenty-two wins, eighteen of them inside the distance, three defeats and a draw — a record that tells you he has been in with real people rather than padding.

He is a pressure fighter in the old British sense. Bentley comes forward behind a decent jab, works the body properly rather than as an afterthought, and wears opponents down across the middle rounds. When it clicks, as it did against Endry Saavedra in London in April 2026, the finish arrives late and heavy.

That Saavedra win, a seventh-round stoppage in front of his own crowd, gave him the WBO interim belt. He was elevated to full champion on 20 July 2026 when Janibek Alimkhanuly vacated to campaign at super-middleweight — not the way anybody wants to become champion, but you take the belt however it arrives and then you defend it.

Defending it is the hard part. The WBO has ordered him to face unbeaten Cuban mandatory Yoenli Hernandez, which means the all-British-and-Irish unification with Aaron McKenna has to wait. Beat Hernandez and Bentley is a champion who has cleared the division's most avoided man. That is a different Denzel Bentley to the one people currently think they are watching.
