Filip 'El Animal' Hrgovic is one of the most avoided heavyweights of his era — a big, powerful, awkward Croatian who took bronze at the 2016 Rio Olympics and turned over with a serious amateur pedigree behind him.

Hrgovic sits at 20-1 with 15 stoppages. The only blemish came in 2024, when he was stopped late by Daniel Dubois in a fight he had been competitive in before being dragged into the trenches. It was a harsh night, but the kind that teaches a fighter exactly where the levels are.

He bounced back in style, most recently halting British favourite Dave Allen inside three rounds in May 2026. That win, and the quick turnaround that followed, had him weighing up his next move carefully before he committed to the biggest test on the table.
