Bio

Floyd Mayweather is, like it or not, one of the finest defensive boxers the sport has ever produced. Fifty fights, fifty wins, world titles across five weight divisions — the man retired with a perfect ledger and a bank balance most sports stars could only dream of. Make no mistake, at his peak he was levels above almost everyone he shared a ring with.

Right, let's be honest about the style. Mayweather wasn't a crowd-pleaser in the traditional sense. He was a master of range, timing and the shoulder roll, a fighter who hit and didn't get hit, who turned twelve rounds into a chess match he'd already won. Purists adored it; casual fans often didn't. Either way, the results never lied.

Since hanging up the gloves as a full-time fighter, Money has built a second career out of exhibitions and crossover spectacles — lucrative nights that keep his name in lights without the risk of a real defeat. Plenty in boxing roll their eyes at it, and I'm one of them, but you can't argue with the business brain.

Now 49, Mayweather is being lined up for a sequel to his 2015 mega-fight with Manny Pacquiao, pencilled in for September 2026 in Las Vegas. Whether the sport needs it is another question entirely — but if it happens, his defensive class makes him a very hard man to beat, even at this age.
