Gerome Warburton is a British middleweight who has quietly put together the kind of run that gets noticed late and then all at once. The win over Nathan Heaney for the vacant WBA Continental middleweight title is the headline, and it was no fluke.

He was the busier man that night, he was the fresher man late, and he took a hostile away crowd out of the fight by simply refusing to be flustered by it. Beating Heaney on points in front of a Heaney audience is a genuinely difficult thing to do.
