Bio

Liam Cameron is a proper Sheffield boxer in every sense of the phrase. The 35-year-old has been on the British scene for over a decade, with a back-and-forth career that included a brief spell as a cruiserweight contender, a long absence due to a positive drug test that he passionately disputed and was eventually cleared for, and a comeback at light-heavyweight that saw him put together one of the gritty British title runs of recent years.

The trilogy with Chris Billam-Smith at cruiserweight defined the back end of Cameron's career, and the eventual defeat in the rubber match has put a question mark over whether he can compete at world level. But at 175lbs he's been newly comfortable, properly powerful, and reportedly the strongest he's ever been in camp.

The May 9 fight against former European champion Brad Rea on the Wardley-Dubois Manchester undercard is the kind of British scrap that defines a year. Cameron is the bigger puncher, Rea is the better technician. If Cameron can land clean inside ten rounds, he stops Rea late. If Rea can keep the distance and turn it into a points fight, Liam loses for the second time in eighteen months.
