Bio

Luis Nery — Pantera — is one of the more controversial Mexican operators of the last decade. A former WBC bantamweight world champion and a man whose career has been weighed down by failed weigh-ins and a positive PED test, but whose talent inside the ring has never been in question. The southpaw from Tijuana hits hard, moves well, and gives anyone problems on his night.

Nery's 2024 fight with Naoya Inoue at the Tokyo Dome went down as one of the most dramatic moments of the Monster's career. Nery dropped Inoue in round one with a clean left hand — the first time Inoue had ever hit the canvas as a professional. Inoue rallied back, took control by round three, and stopped Nery in the sixth, but the moment Pantera planted him with that left will live in Japanese boxing folklore forever.

Make no mistake — when Luis Nery is on, he's a serious operator. The defensive issues are real, the chin can be tested, and the discipline outside the ring has cost him at championship level. But the power is real, the southpaw timing is genuine, and on his night he can hurt anybody at 122 or 126.
