Mike 'Iron Mike' Zambidis is a Greek combat-sports icon, a kickboxing veteran who spent years thrilling crowds across Europe and Asia with his all-action, come-forward style. Compact, heavy-handed and fearless, he built a cult following on the K-1 and Asian kickboxing circuits as one of the most exciting little men in the game.

Make no mistake, Zambidis was never the biggest fighter in the building, but he fought like he was. He'd march straight through opponents, throwing bombs from both hands, and that crowd-pleasing aggression made him a genuine star in Greece and well beyond.

In recent years his name has popped up on the crossover and exhibition circuit, the kind of nostalgia-driven nights that blend boxing and kickboxing royalty for a one-off spectacle. He was lined up to share a ring with Floyd Mayweather in an Athens exhibition in June 2026 before that event collapsed in a tangle of legal problems.

Whatever you make of exhibition boxing — and you know my view on it — Zambidis remains a beloved figure to a generation of European fight fans, and a reminder that heart and pressure can carry a fighter an awfully long way.
