Nathan Heaney is a Stoke-on-Trent middleweight and one of the genuinely great atmospheres in British boxing. When Heaney fights at home the noise is something else entirely, and it has carried him through nights that on paper he had no business winning.

He is a volume fighter in the truest British sense. Pressure, work rate, relentlessness, and an absolute refusal to take a step backwards. It is not pretty and it was never going to be, but it won him a British middleweight title in front of his own people at an age when most fighters are being quietly moved aside.

The limitation is the obvious one. Against younger, sharper opponents who do not panic under pressure, walking forward for ten or twelve rounds becomes walking into shots. Gerome Warburton found that out and took the vacant WBA Continental middleweight title on a unanimous decision.
