Bio

Solomon Dacres is a Birmingham-based British heavyweight who has spent the last four years quietly building one of the most interesting prospect careers in the domestic scene. The 29-year-old, Olympic alternate from the 2020 Tokyo squad, turned pro after the Games and has gone 10-1 with five stoppages, with the lone loss a points decision to David Adeleye that several ringside observers had Dacres winning.

Stylistically Dacres is the proper modern heavyweight. 6'5", quick on the feet, solid jab, hands carried high, and a left hook to the body that's separated him from the rest of the prospect class at his weight. He's had three British title eliminator fights in three years, won two of them, and is one good performance away from a domestic title shot.

The Wardley-Dubois Manchester undercard was supposed to give him exactly that performance — a step up against undefeated American banger Jared Anderson on the biggest UK heavyweight stage of the year. Anderson's bicep tear has put that fight on ice, and the fate of Dacres on the May 9 card is uncertain at the time of writing. Whether or not he gets a replacement opponent, the British heavyweight division has been waiting for Dacres to prove he's the real deal — and the wait now extends a little longer.
