Bio

Yudai Shigeoka is a former two-time WBC light flyweight world champion from Japan and the older brother of former IBF minimumweight champion Ginjiro Shigeoka. He retired from professional boxing in 2025 to care for his younger brother following Ginjiro's catastrophic brain injury after the Pedro Taduran rematch.

Across his championship career Yudai went 8-2 with five knockouts at the lowest weight class in professional boxing. He held the WBC strap twice and was considered one of the most technically sound 108-pound boxers of his era.

Make no mistake — Yudai's decision to walk away from a still-active career to stand in his brother's corner for the recovery is one of the genuine acts of love boxing has produced. The sport owes him.
