Ben Mahoney
Bio
Ben Mahoney is the Gold Coast’s own and one of the most underrated operators in Australian boxing. Unbeaten at 15-0-2, he built his record the hard way — no famous surname, no red carpet, just graft, volume and a chin that has never let him down.
Mahoney’s style is perpetual motion. He is busier than almost anyone at 154lbs, happy to throw six punches to take two, and he gets stronger as fights get older. It is not always pretty, but it wins rounds — and it very nearly won him the biggest fight of his life.
In August 2026 he pushed Nikita Tszyu all the way in an IBF super welterweight title eliminator in front of his home crowd, outworking the bigger name for long stretches and coming away with a split draw that most observers — including Tszyu himself — thought he had won. A rematch, with a shot at IBF champion Josh Kelly behind it, is the obvious next step.
