Denys Berinchyk is a former WBO lightweight champion of the world and one of the most awkward men ever to lace on gloves at 135lbs. The Ukrainian does nothing by the textbook — strange angles, constant feints, an engine that never stalls — and he has made far slicker fighters look ordinary for a decade.

The pedigree is deep: an Olympic silver medallist at London 2012 and a decorated amateur long before the paid ranks. As a professional he climbed patiently, winning the WBO title in 2024 in a performance of pure stubborn brilliance, before losing belt and unbeaten record to Keyshawn Davis in February 2025.

Now 38, and after eighteen months away from the ring, Berinchyk returns in the away corner against big-punching Sam Noakes on the Itauma vs Hrgovic undercard at the O2 on August 29, 2026. He has never been stopped — and Saturday night will tell us whether that record, and the man himself, has one more stand left.
