Isaac ‘Pitbull’ Cruz is exactly what it says on the tin. The squat, swarming Mexico City pressure fighter has spent his whole career walking bigger men onto hooks, and if you know, you know — there is no such thing as a boring Pitbull Cruz fight. Short, thick-necked and permanently in second gear or higher, he's the kind of fighter promoters love and opponents dread.

His breakout came in December 2021, when he stepped in on short notice against Gervonta Davis and took the pound-for-pound star twelve hard, competitive rounds. He came up short on the cards that night, but he announced himself to the American audience in the process. The reward eventually arrived in March 2024, when he battered Rolando Romero to a stoppage and took the WBA super lightweight title — a proper moment for a man who'd earned it the hard way.

The reign was brief — he lost the belt to Jose Valenzuela in his first defence later that year — but Cruz did what Cruz does: put his head down and got back in the queue. A gruelling majority draw with Lamont Roach Jr in a WBC interim title fight in December 2025 showed the level hasn't dropped. Make no mistake, with the PBC stable now part of the DAZN fold, the Pitbull's all-action style is going to get plenty of shop windows — and somebody's going to have to fight him again soon.
