Let's not beat around the bush — Jarrell Miller's career is one of the more chaotic stories in modern heavyweight boxing. The Brooklyn-born former kickboxer (he had an 18-0 unbeaten kickboxing record before he turned pro in the ring) is a 6'4" heavyweight with proper power, a big mouth, and a list of failed drug tests that cost him what would have been the biggest fight of his life against Anthony Joshua in 2019.

Born in Bedford-Stuyvesant in July 1988, Miller came up via kickboxing in WCL, K-1 and Glory before turning his attention to the sweet science. He made the 2007 New York Golden Gloves heavyweight final as an amateur, then went pro and bulldozed his way up the rankings on volume and pressure rather than technique.

The wilderness years after the 2019 Joshua mess were ugly. Failed tests, postponed fights, a long lay-off. But Big Baby kept turning up. In April 2026 he came through a proper twelve-round war with Cuban heavyweight Lenier Pero in Las Vegas, winning the unanimous decision in a WBA title eliminator. That's two wins on the spin and, at 37, possibly his last realistic crack at the top.

Promoter Eddie Hearn has been talking up a Deontay Wilder showdown in New York — a fight made for the city and made for highlight reels. Whether Miller can actually beat a switched-on Wilder is another question entirely. But he's earned the right to find out.
