Lee McGregor
Lightning
Bio
Right then. Lee 'Lightning' McGregor is the Edinburgh fighter who's been at the sharp end of British boxing since 2019. Former British and Commonwealth bantamweight champion, former European bantamweight champion, and a man who's carried real power up two weight classes without losing the snap. Eleven knockouts from sixteen wins is a proper finishing rate at small-man weights, and the highlight reel is the kind that gets shown back to back on a Saturday night.
Make no mistake — the two losses are both Brit-domestic upsets and both fights he was beating on the cards before things turned. Karim Guerfi caught him with a left hand in 2023 he didn't see; the Erik Robles Ayala loss the year after was a split he'll argue about for the rest of his career. He moved up to super-bantam, missed weight twice at 130, and finally found a real home at 135 last summer.
Tonight on the Allen-Hrgovic undercard in Doncaster, he's in against Manchester's Michael Gomez Jr over ten rounds at lightweight — the proper 50/50 of the night and the chief support to the heavyweight main. If Lightning Lee lands first, this is a short night. If Gomez Jr drowns him in volume, it's a long one. Either way, the loser doesn't come back for a long time.
