Michael Conlan

Bio
Right then, Michael Conlan. Belfast's finest, Olympic bronze medallist, and one of the most beloved Irish fighters of his generation. Make no mistake, this is a man whose career meant more than the wins and losses on his record. Conlan walked out at Madison Square Garden on St Patrick's Day to a roaring Irish crowd, headlined the Falls Park, and made featherweight in Belfast feel like a heavyweight night in Vegas.
The amateur pedigree was immaculate — World Championship gold, European gold, Commonwealth gold, Olympic bronze in London 2012, and the infamous fingers-up exit at Rio 2016 that went viral across the world. He turned pro under Top Rank, was guided beautifully by Adam Booth, and built a proper following before making the leap to world level.
The big fights tell the story. The 2022 thriller with Leigh Wood at the Motorpoint Arena Nottingham, where Conlan was dropped in the twelfth and stopped after a brilliant performance. The 2023 stoppage loss to Luis Alberto Lopez. And finally the 2026 defeat to Callum Walsh in Belfast that closed the book — Conlan announced his retirement immediately after, at peace with everything he gave the sport.
Class operator. Class southpaw. Lights out on his good nights, brave on his bad ones. Belfast will not see another like him for a long time. If you know, you know.
