Nathaniel Collins is a class technical featherweight from Glasgow who has been one of the best domestic fighters in Britain for the last three years. The Scot's 14-2-1 record tells a story of consistent work against genuine opposition, and both of his losses have come in fights that could have gone either way on the cards.

Collins fights out of Springburn and is trained out of the same gym that has produced a steady stream of proper Scottish talent. He is an orthodox boxer-puncher with excellent hand speed, a stinging jab, and underrated body work. His problem — if you can call it that — is that he is often the second-busiest fighter in the ring. He wins the exchanges he throws, but he does not always throw enough of them to stack up rounds on the cards.

The back-to-back defeats to Cristobal Lorente are a setback but not a career ender. Collins is 29, still in his prime, and with a rebuild run of two or three good wins he can absolutely work his way back to world-level contention. He is too good to stay down for long.
