Raymond "Danger" Muratalla is the reigning IBF Lightweight World Champion, born in Mexico and raised in working-class Fontana, California. He's a textbook Mexican-American operator — disciplined volume, a body attack that bills itself for the championship rounds, and a chin that has yet to be properly tested at world level.

He captured the IBF lightweight strap that Vasiliy Lomachenko had previously vacated, and made his first defence in sensational fashion with a majority-decision win over Cuban amateur great Andy Cruz earlier this year. The Cruz fight was one of the cleanest technical scraps of 2026 at 135lbs, and it announced Muratalla as the cleaner version of the lightweight champion conversation.

He's now headed for an August 8 defence at the Toyota Arena in Ontario, California — a homecoming card to the area where he was raised. With Lomachenko unretiring and rumoured to want his old IBF belt back in the fall, every fight Muratalla takes from here is loaded with the conversation about what comes after.

His style is the Mexican workrate version of orthodox lightweight boxing. He doesn't throw flashy single shots. He works rounds. He builds them.
