Right then — fight week proper has arrived for Keyshawn Davis and Nahir Albright. Today's final press conference streams live on Top Rank's YouTube, X and Facebook channels at 2pm ET, and Saturday night at the Scope Arena in Norfolk gives Keyshawn the chance to put the messy first meeting properly to bed.
Let's not beat around the bush about how we got here. The first fight, back in February, ended in chaos — a missed weight, a contractual mess, and a result that nobody felt comfortable with. Davis came home wanting a do-over on home soil, and Top Rank, to their credit, have given him exactly that. Norfolk is his patch. The Scope is his building. The pressure is entirely on the man with the local crowd on his back.
What's At Stake
This is more than just a rematch. Davis has spent the back end of last year being measured against Shakur Stevenson in every conversation about the 135-140 picture, and Tim Bradley has openly said this week that Stevenson is the man and Keyshawn is the second fiddle. That is a proper jab to the ego, and Davis needs a brilliant performance Saturday to push back on that narrative.
Albright, for his part, is a southpaw with proper boxing skills who fights bigger than his record. He is not a knockout artist, but he is awkward, he is sharp, and he gave Keyshawn problems in the first fight before the weight scale story took over. A proper, clean win for him here is career-changing.
The Wider Card
It is a stacked night. Brian Norman Jr. returns in the co-feature against Josh Wagner over ten rounds at welterweight — and Norman, the former WBO champion, is one of the most underrated punchers in the division. Keyshawn's older brother Kelvin Davis takes on Bronx man Peter Dobson, and there is a featherweight ten-rounder between unbeaten Dominican Yan Santana and Cristian Cruz Chacon.
The Prediction
Davis by clear decision, probably 117-111 or thereabouts. He is levels above Albright when he is properly switched on, and on home soil with the rematch narrative riding on him, I do not see him leaving any doubt this time. If he is going to silence the Stevenson chatter, he needs more than a win — he needs the kind of performance that makes the highlight package go round on a loop. He has the tools to do exactly that.
Watch the presser today though. Davis is normally proper relaxed in front of the cameras, and Albright is the quiet type. The interesting bit will be whether Keyshawn lets the Bradley comments slip out. If he does, it tells you everything about where his head is at.
