Willy Hutchinson
Bio
Willy Hutchinson is a Scottish light heavyweight from Carstairs, and a proper big-shot merchant. Born in August 1998, he stands 6ft 1in with a 73-inch reach, fights out of an orthodox stance, and has 14 knockouts in his 20 wins. He is ranked seventh in the division by The Ring.
His two defeats tell the story of a man who has been in with the best. He was stopped in five rounds at the Copper Box in London in March 2021, then lost a split decision to Joshua Buatsi at Wembley in September 2024, hitting the canvas twice in that fight. Two judges had it comfortably for Buatsi, yet the third had Hutchinson ahead, which shows how close he ran it.
Since then he has rebuilt properly. He stopped his opponent in seven rounds in Glasgow in October 2025, then outboxed another opponent over 10 rounds in Manchester in March 2026. He says he is more experienced and more versatile now, and that matters because the first Buatsi fight showed he needed more tricks than power alone.
Now he gets his shot at revenge on Saturday 7 November at the AO Arena in Manchester, against Buatsi for the vacant WBC light heavyweight title, live on DAZN. Make no mistake, this is the biggest night of his career. If you know, you know: a fighter who lost narrowly to a man he knows he can hurt is a dangerous fighter.
